My Story
I am a teacher by trade, but a stay-at-home mom by choice to 3 awesome boys and a wife to my husband who is (now a retired) Marine. When we were stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX, I took the plunge and became a Consultant in August 2010. We moved back to San Diego and then on to North Carolina and each time, I took my business with me and met wonderful new people along the way! What made me join? When we arrived in Texas, I made the decision to go back to teaching. I was offered a position at my boys' school. They would be going full-time and I decided it was a good opportunity to get back in the workforce and still be close to my kiddos throughout the day, as well as contribute to the family income. But then, in January of 2010, we were surprised with our third son! I had always stayed home with my babies and very much intended to stay home with this one; however, I was concerned about the money we were losing and I was feeling very isolated. Since I had been working on the other side of town, I really hadn't gotten to know my neighbors, and all the people I knew were still working!! What could I do that would allow me to stay home, meet people and still contribute to that huge mortgage payment for the house we left in San Diego?? My classroom room-mom had approached me about Scentsy months before, but it hadn't been the right time. But now maybe it was!! I loved the product and Bridget (my room mom) was always talking about how fabulous the company was, how inspiring Convention was, and the trips she had earned just by sharing wax and warmers!?! I decided to spend the $99 and become a consultant. I was a little apprehensive at first because I had done direct sales before and it hadn't really gone anywhere...I never even built a team. Who was I going to sell to? Who would want to be on my team? I told the "Itty-Bitty Icky Committee" to GO AWAY and told myself I could do this!! I began making my plan of attack. I realized after easily making a list of 100 people that I knew that they also knew people! This was good! I knew that if I could sell just $600, I'd make my investment back. I decided to swing for the fence and continue with my plan quickly because I knew if I pondered too long, I wouldn't do anything. I set the date for my launch party and away I went! In my first 15 days, I earned the Shooting Star Enhancement Kit (and sold enough to cover my investment) and by my 70th day, I had earned Scentsational Start Level 2! Now I felt like I was contributing towards groceries, tuition and that shoe fetish of mine! Fast forward 9 years and I can tell you I don't regret becoming a Consultant! I have met so many incredible Consultants, wonderful customers and have become more goal-oriented than I ever was before. Can you believe I earned an all-expense paid trip to NYC WHILE my husband was deployed for a year?? Not to mention, I was able to cross a bucket item off my list by earning a Mediterranean Cruise in 2016! Scentsy allows me to do something besides clean house, make meals and taxi my kids all over. (Don't get me wrong...I love being a Mom, but I needed something for me too!!) Being a Consultant gives me girl time, opportunity to travel, great relationships, and encouraging, positive people all around me. What mom doesn't need that? I love that I can take the fun and bless people's lives wherever I go! I love that it has paid for Christmas many times. I love that I was able to surprise my husband with something he had been wanting for a long time! I love that when hockey season starts, I can up my game and help with Club hockey expenses! I love that I can work as hard or as little as I want. What a blessing Scentsy has been. I love my Scentsy family! Would you like to earn some extra money?!
